Second Sunday of Advent

Khaleda Begum is determined to pave the way for women in her community to gain independence through running their own businesses. 

Khaleda herself was married young, as is common in her village and struggles to find the words to describe the suffering this caused her. With the support of Christian Aid’s partner, she now runs a successful beadwork business. Leading and working alongside nine other women, she now plans to expand this community and support other women as they develop their own businesses. Christian Aid’s partners work with women like Khaleda all over the world, supporting them to access equal opportunities and secure livelihoods.
