This Christmas, Christian Aid Ireland are partnering with KOVA, The Chosen’s UK publicity partner, to share a powerful vision of the birth of Christ through a series of exclusive screenings of ‘The Shepherd’ in City Church, Bangor and Urban Junction, Dublin – with more venues to be confirmed very soon.

The Chosen is a groundbreaking historical drama based on the life of Jesus, seen through the eyes of those who knew him. Set against the backdrop of Roman oppression in first century Israel, the show shares an authentic and intimate look at Jesus’ revolutionary life and teachings.

The short film follows an outcast shepherd struggling to bring a lamb acceptable for sacrifice to Bethlehem, who hears the angelic announcement and is witness to the birth of the Lamb of God. His experiences of poverty on the margins of society are mirrored by those experienced by many people who Christian Aid Ireland work with to lift themselves out of poverty, just like Shede in South Sudan.

Rosamond Bennett, Christian Aid Ireland’s CEO, will be sharing at both events about her recent visit to our ongoing work with people displaced by conflict in Sudan and our partners’ work to establish new lives and a new hope for people who have found themselves walking in darkness.
