Life

Jesus came to give life.

Something to read

It is he alone who has immortality and dwells in unapproachable light, whom no one has ever seen or can see; to him be honour and eternal dominion. Amen.

- 1 Timothy 6:16.

Something to think about

Timothy was a relatively young man and shouldn't be despised for his youth. Paul tells him that it is being in the presence of God where life is.

The strength that established the Earth and keeps it in its place is the strength that enabled Jesus to confess who he was before Pontius Pilate, to die on the cross and to rise again.

It shows that as Jesus was the light of the world on his birth. His light was not and is not extinguished by his death, but is eternal by his resurrection. In Jesus then, is truly he who gives life to all things.

Something to do

As we see light from various sources - the sun, the moon, the light of the fire, torchlight, street light or lights in the house - let us consider and remember who Jesus is, and why he came from heaven to give life.

Be humble and remember not to look down on anyone, but consider everyone in all circumstances.

Something to pray

Life-giving God, it is easy to forget that there is a life beyond this physical earthly life and that this life is not long, in the context of eternity. Help me to see your eternal nature and that Jesus was not just the light that came into the world, but the light who sustains the world and who wants to sustain me.

Amen.
