‘I don’t need to dread the day’
Sheila sadly lost her mum Eileen in 2023. For more than 40 years, Eileen organised Christian Aid Week house-to-house collections through her church in East London.
Sheila reflects on Mothering Sunday without her mum this year. She speaks of how much Christian Aid meant to her mum Eileen and what a comfort it is to give in her memory now.

‘As a child, she lived through the Second World War. So she believed in justice and peace – and caring for others.'
Eileen’s support of Christian Aid makes Sheila feel proud. This Mothering Sunday Sheila is remembering her mum through a gift in memory to Christian Aid.
I miss her. But it makes me feel close to her, doing something that I know she would have appreciated.
